Florence M. DeSilvestro, 88, of Browns Mills, formerly of Spotswood, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Brookdale Hamilton Assisted Living in Hamilton.
Born in Orange, Florence was raised in Maryland and also lived in East Orange, Sayreville and Spotswood before settling in Browns Mills in 2021. She retired in 1999 after more than 25 years as an X-ray technician with the Former South Amboy Memorial Hospital. Florence was a long-time member of the Echo Lake Ecclesia of Westfield. She was an avid reader with the Bible being her favorite book. She also enjoyed walking, cruises, knitting, crocheting, crafting in ceramics, flowers and watching ice skating. Florence always had a smile for everyone and was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand. But above all else, She looked forward to spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all whom she loved dearly.
Predeceased by her parents, William and Florence (Schmidt) Kennedy and her brothers, Bob and Bill Kennedy, she is survived by her children, Susan Knowles and her husband, Ken, Debbie Wilcox and her husband Keith, John DeSilvestro and his companion, Sharon Paulowski and Jan Aszman and her husband, Gary; her sisters-in-law, Maureen and Jan Kennedy; grandchildren, Kenny Knowles and Shannon Williams, Heather and Ian Aszman, and; great-grandchildren, Gabby, JR, Jadalyn, Kambri, Thomas and Zander.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 9th, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Cremation will be private.
