Joseph D. Nagy, Jr., 71 of Milltown passed away October 17, 2018 at Saint Peters University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, he lived in Kendall Park and North Brunswick, settling in Milltown.
Joe attended Saint Ladislaus School and Church where in his youth he was an altar server and he participated in many of the schools sports programs. Joe graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1966. Following high school he was drafted into the United States Army. Joe completed basic training at Fort McClellan, AL. While stationed in Fort Campbell, KY, he trained in radio repair. Joe went to Vietnam and survived the Tet Offensive of 1968 near Saigon.
After the war, Joe returned to the United States where he was employed by Bell Telephone and AT&T as a computer technician. While in telecommunications he was a member of Local 827 until his retirement in 2009.
Joe was a proud and dedicated member of the American Legion Post 25, Milltown, where he was active for 35 years. In earlier years he served as a firefighter with the Kendall Park Fire Department.
Above all, Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grand father who will be missed by all who knew him.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph D. and Mary Nagy and his brother, Peter J. Nagy, Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy, sons, Keith, Darren, and Travis, brother Daniel and his wife, Catherine, sister- in-law, Linda Nagy, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Joe's life will go on in the hearts of others that knew him. Time will pass and grief will fade but precious memories will always remain.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 21 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, October 22 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow services at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
