Martha Sorrentino, 82, of Monroe, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away October 1, 2018 at home with her loving husband at her side.
Born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua, she emigrated to the United States in 1954. Martha graduated from Immaculata High School in Nicaragua. After settling in California, she completed a program and obtained her beautician/cosmetologist certification.
Extremely skilled, she worked in prestigious salons and had several well known clients. In New York City, Martha operated the prestigious "Vogue" salon at Hilton Hotels, Manhattan where much of her professional time was dedicated behind the scenes preparing news reporters and movie stars for the set. Following an intense Manhattan centered career, Martha relocated to Philadelphia where she operated her own boutique hair salon which she designed in swanky motif in the lower level of her home.
After retirement, Martha escaped the big metropolitan cities and settled in Monroe Township. Martha loved dancing and gardening. Flowers were always in bloom in her backyard. She was a communicant at Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Philadelphia and later at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood.
Above all, Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Francis, her sons, Francis P and his wife Kristin., Dr, David F. and his wife, Dr. Myriam, and Brian, her grandchildren, Francis, Jr., Alyssa, David, Marc, and Gabriella.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, N.J. A mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church Spotswood. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
