Amalia Salcido

Amalia Salcido, 90, of Monroe Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023 at her home.

Born to Luis and Amalia (Andrade) Ospina in Bogota, Colombia, Amalia emigrated to the United States in 1960, living in New York City and Brooklyn, New York before settling in Monroe Township in 2000. For many years, she worked at the Pierre Hotel in New York City, retiring in 2000. She was a devoted Catholic and found comfort in her daily prayers. Amalia enjoyed music and loved animals, but above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Predeceased by her husband Salvador and all of her siblings, she is survived by her son Daniel and his wife Lynn of Monroe Township, and; her grandsons Andrew and Aidan.

Cremation was private. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 28th, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home at 475 Main Street, Spotswood. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Amalia's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
