Anna S. Iannuzzi

Anna Sofia Iannuzzi, 76, of Whiting, formerly of Monroe Township, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

She was born in Alfano, Salerno, Italy, to Giuseppe and Maria (Villano) Lombardo.  Anna and her family resided there until emigrating to the United States in 1957, settling in Brooklyn, New York.  Destiny brought Anna and “Alex” together and they married in 1965, having three children.  In 1982, they moved to Monroe Township and later, to Whiting in 2016. Anna was larger than life and all who knew her, loved her.  She enjoyed many things, including traveling and celebrating holidays in her home, but nothing made her happier than cooking for a house full of family and friends. Anna was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Spotswood, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

Predeceased by her brothers, Pietro and Carmine Lombardo, she is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Alessandro Iannuzzi; her adoring children, Gino Iannuzzi and his wife, Mindy, of Easton, PA; Pino Iannuzzi and his companion, Rosalia Basile, of New Egypt; and Tammi Iannuzzi and her companion, Jason Gabriel, of Jackson, NJ. Anna is also survived by her siblings, Nicolina Detta, Antoinette Caramanica and her husband, Tony; Giovanna Cafasso, Pat Lombardo and his wife, Kathy; and Jerry Lombardo and his wife, Mady; her grandchildren, Joseph and Amanda Iannuzzi and Blake Iacovelli; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will begin with an 11:45 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 4th, at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, Jamesburg. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, March 3rd, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood.
