Charles Voigt, IV, 61, of Spotswood, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
Born in Cherry Hill, Charlie was raised in Camden, Lindenwold and Southington, Connecticut, before settling in Spotswood in 1999. He was a salesperson with the Bilco Group of Hillside for more than 25 years. He was a devoted father and, son, caring for his own dad in his final years. In his youth, Charlie earned a Black Belt in Aikido, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charlie had a love of all animals, his specialty being reptiles as herpetology was his course of study. Most of his high school studies were completed at St. Francis Seminary, Lafayette NJ, where his choral group sang at the Vatican. He continued singing in the 80's as the voice of Elvis in his band. He had always enjoyed UFC mixed martial arts competitions, tinkering with computers and doing website designing. While living in Connecticut, he was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Southington.
Predeceased by his parents, Charles Voigt, III and Veronica (Filipski) Voigt, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Catherine (Grady) Voigt; his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Amanda Voigt and; his grandchildren, Piper and Logan Voigt.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, June 6th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Interment will be on Wednesday, June 7th, at approximately 12:00 PM at the South End Burying Ground, 200 South End Road, Plantsville, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations honoring Charlie's memory be made to either the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, World Wildlife Fund or American Cancer Society.
