Gustave A. Bindewald, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Spotswood, peacefully passed away on August 31, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
Born and raised in Woodbridge, he was one of ten children. He moved to Spotswood in the 1970s prior to settling in Columbus in 2009. He was employed for many years as a new car transporter for General Motors in Linden. After his retirement he continued to work part time with Irvin Raphael Bus Company of East Brunswick. He was very active in the Homestead of Columbus community where he lived. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, crabbing at the shore, and above all else, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gus was a very giving man, easy going with a great sense of humor and always had a smile for everyone.
Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Bindewald, this past June and his son Randy Bindewald in 2019, he is survived by his son Kevin Bindewald; his grandchildren Ally, Nicole, Brent, Jesica and Ashley; his great-grandchildren Izabelle, Ava and Grace, and; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 4th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Entombment will follow in Frost Woods Cemetery, East Brunswick.
