Joan M. Burke, 88, of Spotswood, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Born and raised in Perth Amboy, Joan lived in Sayreville for many years before settling in the Clearwater Community in Spotswood in 1999. She was a long-time communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Prior to her retirement in 2011, she worked as a receptionist and medical biller for Dr. Alex Wajnberg, MD, Old Bridge. Joan was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She truly loved to laugh and tell jokes and was nicknamed "Happy" in her final residence at Reformed Church. She loved to sing and was very proud of being part of the Spotswood Office on Aging Choir and would always have stories of their visits to sing for nursing homes and schools. Physical exercise was also a passion of Joan's where dancing and walking filled her day. Most recently she learned to enjoy playing bingo. She absolutely loved living in Spotswood and was quite content in the community and never had the desire to travel as Spotswood was her adored home.
