Sotirios Petroutsos, 91, of Spotswood passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
Born and raised in Kefalonia, Greece, Sotirios came to the United States in 1965 and lived in Perth Amboy for many years before settling in Spotswood in 1980. He worked at the former Anaconda Copper Works and Schott's Painting, both of Perth Amboy, Zim's Painting of Highland Park and he was a Sexton for Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Perth Amboy for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2016. He enjoyed his flowers, gardening and his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Georgia Petroutsos in August of 2020; his great-grandson Ian Thomas Dimitratos, and; his brothers Aristos Petratsas and Kostantinos, George and Fokios Petroutsos. He is survived by daughters Irene Dimitratos and her husband Nikolaos of Spotswood and Antonia Mingos and her husband Emmanouil of Commack, NY; his grandchildren Andrew and Steven (Alison) Dimitratos, Maria-Jasmine Burgos (Matthew) and Georgiana and Giorgio Mingos, and; his great Grandson Nicholas James Dimitratos.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23rd from 10:00 AM until the start of the Divine Liturgy at Saint Demetrios Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations honoring Sotirios' memory be made to the Holy Protection Monastery of the Theokotos at 1 St. Joseph's Way, White Haven, PA 18661.
